I looked at the page counter today...still dismally low, but it's almost doubled this week. I'm at 68 page views instead of 36. Now, I don't know if that's something to be proud of but.....

You know, it's extremely hard to find a good writing competition on TS3.com. They all seem to peter out after a while. :( I've joined one, started another. Neither of which have made it past the first assignment. Oh well, at least there's no short supply of modeling competitions. But you know what you have to look for in these type of things? Well, I'd look for someone who is at least 18 or appears to be mature enough to host and judge one. I've joined the same Comp. twice  now, and they've just been too irresponsible to even get things off the ground after a number of weeks. I'm getting fed up.

So to hell with all their crap, as of now i'm planning my own comp. And i'll be sure to have all the assignments ready before I even announce it. :D

Global Warming

You know, in light of the recent disasters that rocked the world and made everyone run for the caves screaming '2012', I have decided to put in my 5 cents ;D (Yea, thats right, I said 5 Cents) on global warming.

Now, many people are trapped under the false information that Global warming does not effect them and that global warming only takes action in the summer, if at all. It is this obliviousness that will drive us all to our dooms. You see, when the Earth's temp. rises, the Polar ice caps melt. They melt, the sea rises. When storms brew, they sweep up more water and hence forth; have more power. The storm turns into a hurricane or a giant storm. It destroys your house and the surrounding landscape. But not only do these things come up in the summer as deadly hurricanes, they also come in the winter. As the American North East saw head on this winter. Haha, you may laugh now, but you won't be laughing when it's you.

So it goes like this.  Pollution---> Hole in ozone---->Polar Ice Caps Melt----> Sea Rises----> Storm Forms-----> Becomes Hurricane/Blizzard----> Destroys landscape and your house. ------> Inconveniences you.

So really, We Inconvenience ourselves. But the irony doesn't stop there, and neither does mother nature. Actually, Mother Nature has stopped, we've all but destroyed an equilibrium that has existed for trillions of years...and we're paying the price. But so is everything else we share the planet with.

Is this what we want? Do we want a mass extinction on our hands as thousands of ecosystems are destroyed.I think us humans can do better than this. We made the problem, now we fix it. We won't let those animals die! We won't let those children starve! We won't deny it isn't happening, we'll try and fix it. Don't you see what our earth is becoming? Don't you see what is happening?  Don't wait around for 2012, get up and pay attention to whats happening right under your nose. And make an effort to do something. May it be recycling or donating or researching. 2011 is the year for change, the year for hope. But only if we make it the year for change, the year for hope.

*Face Smak* Well, It seems that I was wrong. There is a Sims 3 Generations as well as a leaked trailer of 'Sims 3 Unleashed' which is basically Sims 3 Pets.

Earthquake in japan and...the only thing I feel is what I sort of describe as stunned disbelief. I hope everyone is o.k...but they're not. Death toll and missing persons is already up over 1,000 and rising in less than 24 hours. This is the time where the rest of the world should come to their aid.

A 30 foot tsunami hit right afterwards and many other tsunami's have been reported since. Hundreds swept out to sea along with cars and other things.

The tsunami is expected to hit other islands including Hawaii in the pacific region. It's a terrible, terrible thing.

All of it.

I don't believe in God, so I'll say: May luck be with you .

It was almost quite literally, off the charts.

Zero

Yanno, Zero is a funny letter- I mean number. It's null, void. Nothing. Nadda. If I has Zero Oranges, how many oranges do I has....none.

Which is why i'm so overjoyed with emotion when I read: 0 comments,  that I laugh my socks off. Not really...

And just while were clearing things up, I want to make a point: Pants don't spontaneously combust. I looked that one up in the dictionary. (I was actually looking up 'Knobby', but that's besides the point.) And I just happened across Spontaneous combustion written at the top of the page.  It's a chemical reaction...so unless you have some mysterious liquids in your pants (What have you been eating lately?!?!?!), it's pretty impossible for your pants to spontaneously catch on fire.

Which brings me to my other point: nursery rhymes. What are they, really? Happy-Go-Lucky songs masquerading as children's tails? NO, I don't think so.

Liar, Liar, Pants on fire.  Wrong. Your pants can't catch on fire just like that. Then again, when In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue. I used to think the earth was flat.

And finally, I hope you didn't not understand this post. Because I sure as combustablepants didn't. :D

Help! MY Stuff From The Store Doesn't Install!!!

Ever since I reinstalled my game due to other problems, I haven't been able to install items from the launcher or even strait from My Docs. I have Riverview and a couple hairs from the store all in my launcher. I will select them and click install and it seems to work fine. It says it's installed and everything. But when I open up my game...nothing's there and when I go back to my luncher, it says nothing has been installed. It's an endless cycle and nothing works. What do I do! I really like the store stuff, but I can't use any of it!!! And I've already tried installing it without the disc in the slot.

Well, I did this bit for a writing Comp.

My alarm went off at 6Am. I can’t remember the dream I was having; only that it was way too early to be getting up. I sat up groggily and carted myself to the bathroom.

I felt better after splashing a couple handfuls of water on my face, but it didn’t help the pimple that had just cropped up on my nose. Of all the things to happen to me on the first day of school, I get a zit. Great.

So much for peace and quiet, I thought as my little brother came charging down the stairs. I had just poured myself a bowl of cereal and was slowly crunching my way through it. I sighed, not much ever happened in my life anyway.

Less than a minute later, the bus honked and I grabbed my backpack and dashed out the door. I wouldn’t be good if I had to have my mom drive me to the first day of high school.

I got on the bus and quickly spotted my two best friends in a seat together. I slouched over and plopped down in the seat across from them.

“Hey Jessica, Amber. First day of school, huh?” I said.

“Yea, and you wouldn’t bet how crazy my morning’s been, Sylvia!” Amber gushed. It was like I had pulled the plug on the Amber tub and she just couldn’t stop talking. “First, I had to pick out my outfit and apply my make-up. And let me tell you, Lorél make-up does not come cheap!”

I was too caught up in the drama of Amber’s life, so I didn’t notice when a tan boy with sandy hair got on the bus. He brushed past me on his way to the seat behind me and I shivered as his skin touched mine.

I quickly dug inside my backpack for a post-it and scribbled a note to Amber and Jessica. It read: OMG! Seat behind me, sooo cute!!!! *dispose of note*

They promptly turned around and stared at him.

“Uhhhh….Hi. I’m Jake….why are you staring at me???” I could have slapped myself. I wrote another note: Be discreet!!!!    

Amber muttered something about being accused of something she didn’t do and shot me an ‘OMG’ stare. I shot her an ‘I know!!!’ stare and we looked at Jessica. She was still staring. Amber and I almost fell off our seats laughing.

Jake was looking at me kind of strangely, so I bit my lip and said, “Hi, I’m Sylvia. I’m a freshman, how ‘bout you?” I eagerly awaited his answer.

“Yea…me too.”

“Are you new?” This time it was Jessica speaking. It was a small town and we had gone to school with the same people since kindergarten.

“Yea. I just moved from London.” That was weird, I thought. He didn’t have an accent. “But I’ve lived in America since I was two years old. We just move around a lot because of my Dad’s job.”

“Cool…what does he do?”

“He works in the secret service…its secret, so I can’t tell you anything else.” He said with a smile playing around his lips.

I laughed. I couldn’t help it; it was funny. Amber and Jessica looked at me like I was a lunatic. “What?” I protested, “It was funny…” Jessica shook her head and rolled her eyes.

“Is there something I’m not getting here?” Jake asked, looking back and forth between us. “Oh, wait, I forgot. All girls have some sort of secret code.” He looked at me. “But don’t worry; I’m good at cracking codes.”

Amber and I exchanged a look. OMG! Was he flirting with me?  I didn’t have time to find out because at that moment, the bus pulled up at the school.

“Everybody out!” The  bus driver called, and we gathered up our backpacks and waited to disembark.

Jake somehow got out before me, so I was right behind him on the steps. I didn’t notice that my lunch bag had gotten stuck on the railing and before I knew it, I was falling towards the pavement.

Then, strong arms were supporting me and I was lifted up and set on my feet. I looked up. It was Jake. I blushed.

“Thank you.” I muttered and we walked into school together. Amber and Jessica trailed behind, scheming.

When we got inside, the office secretary directed us all to the gym to receive our new schedules. On the way there, I dropped my books on the floor. Not on purpose, but I’m not saying anything. Just as planned, Jake picked them up.

“Your pretty….” He said something else but I couldn’t hear it because of the blood rushing by my ears.

“What??”

“I said: Your pretty clumsy.” He handed me my books with a knowing smile.

“Oh” I said, and just then I knew that we were going to get along fine, more than fine if I could help it. And so as we picked up our schedules, I thought: The first day of school couldn’t be better. And I walked off to my locker.

I joined another modeling Comp. Today. It's actually the same comp I was in last time  (Dare To Model) Except redone because they couldn't get enough people to join. Anyways, the first assignment is called basic brave and I've just completed it. So, here it is.

Memoirs of a Sick Person

*Sigh*

Yea, it's Friday. The best day of the week, or so I thought. No, instead of having "Fun" at school, I'm stuck at home with what I would call an illness. First, I was throwing up. That was all nice and good except for the fact that I felt like crap. Next, the coughing and sore throat started...and then I was waking up sweating in the middle of the night. The sickness progressed out of my throat yesterday and into my head, giving me a pounding headache and minor loss of hearing. This morning, it's back and at first I woke up feeling: "Hey! My sore throat is gone.." This was promptly followed by a spasm of coughing and the realization that I didn't need a sore throat to cough up the content of my lungs...

*Sigh* Yea, sounds like Friday to me.

Anyway, now that I've bored you with talk of myself, let me update you on some of the happier aspects of my life...

In other news....I was a runner up in a modeling comp (Vibrant modeling) Mostly because other people dropped out but I never expected to make it that far. The most frustrating thing that happened to me was that I always waited to the last minute to post my pic...even though I already had an idea. Unfortunately, as soon as I went to the thread, I would see that someone else had exactly the same idea but had posted their's first. And so I would begin the long process of redoing my pic, just so I wouldn't be hounded on for copying.

Whatever, time to move on, yanno?

Must Be Opposite Day.

Confession time: I like to laugh. When I see something funny, it makes my day...which is why I couldn't resist sharing this with you guys.

I clicked on GD over at the sims 3 forums, and couldn't help but notice the names of some of these. 

First off, we've got 'Interesting'. I clicked....it wasn't interesting. Notice it had one view and zero replies. The post was about the eye color of someone's sim. The poster probably could have made a better title, at least. -_-

Next up, 'She's a Freak' and although I expected something...different....it made me laugh. . :D

Anyway, and so this brings us to the third thing. Generations. For days now, simmers all over the world have been speculating about what is supposedly a new EP (Expansion pack) . Ever since this was leaked on the Sims 3 website, if only for a few hours..minutes..seconds...

Notice the Purple where they claim to have absolute proof and give you a link that takes you to...where? Well, it takes you to the picture I have inserted instead of his signature and as you can see, it says generations.   I do not know what happened with TS3.com. For a while now it seems that they are letting their website slip into disrepair. And then not repairing it....while ( to the great distress of many people ) pushing their advertising campaign for medieval even harder. They gave us all a scare when they took down the #1 spot in the front page slide show a couple days ago and everyone thought it was going to be an announcement for generations...but turned out just to be a different slide for medieval. Furthermore, that it not absolute proof, anyone could have done that or it just could have been the default. 

Which brings me too my other point. The Default. Just like everyone else, I searched  for generations or something similar in google...and I found something alright. I found the first seven entries to be from TS3. They were previous expansion packs that had already come out. And you know what it said under every single one in the description ? It said: (Blue on pic.) "Congratulations! You have successfully registered your Sims 3 Generations game. etc etc etc...." Under every single one. Which brings me back to my point that it might just be the default description that popped up when they reloaded their website. 

I  do not think this is going to go anywhere. Sims 3 has a long history of ignoring it's customers while trying to extort money from them anyway. Shame. Shame on you, EA. The fact remains that they had a lot more supporters when Maxis worked on the game too. Because I think thats where all the humor came from and thats what their fans related to. I must admit, there was much more originality and quirks about the sims 2. And many would say it was better, if not for the superior graphics of TS3. 

The fact remains that this generations thing is probably going to end with some very Angry, disappointed customers and EA will have just lost a giant portion of fans. It's too late, EA. You didn't follow through just one too many times, and now your going to pay the price. 

Also notice that it is one of the most active forums with over 35 thousand views and over 2 thousand responses. At first, the was moving rather like any other forum: "Yay!" "Generations, I can't wait!" But the responses grew with the excitement and it really took off around 50 pages. You couldn't refresh fast enough because every time you did, a whole 'nother page would have been added by the time everything loaded. Around the middle there was still a bit of skepticism, but that died down in favor of giddy anticipation as the California clock reached 2 PM. And then it passed and everyone still insisted it would be announced, they were just running late. And pretty soon, the convention had ended and there was a long list of facts suddenly springing up accounting to why it hadn't been announced. I dunno, here's one: Maybe because it doesn't exist. 

The excitement has died down now and the forum is still moving rather slowly, some believers are still hanging on to the hope that the new EP will be announced soon. Others have given up hope and are trying to convince the other to do the same. 

Me. I followed the trends like everyone else. I went from: Sorry to crush your dreams, but it's not gonna happen!  To: Well, maybe... To: OMG! Sooo, excited. To: Haha, no. It's not gonna happen.  

But even as I went through those stages, deep down, I knew that it was all going to be a big disappointed. 

And so, instead of laughter, my day ended as a big: Oh well...

let's just say that i'll give myself a smak in the head for you...:P guys.. :P

Passing the Time

Well, its only Thursday and I already need a break. Anyway, I needed something to do, so I turned to my editing software. Yep, CS5 and lightroom. I was just planning on doing some touching ups in Lightroom, but it was being bad and not cooperating. Anyway, so I fired up Photoshop and cranked out this little beauty.

Whaddya think? Nice? Terrible? I don't think it's too bad, myself.
